Sleeping Through the Night!

It's 10:34 pm and Lucas is sleeping in his swing, which has become our normal routine for his "nap" between the 8:00 pm and 11:00 pm feedings (after which he goes in to bed in a pack N play in our bedroom). I just saw him sleeping so peacefully here tonight and though that I would take a quick photo and document that Lucas has been sleeping through the night (that is, 11:00 pm to 5:00 am) since Sunday/Monday the 21st/22nd of April!  That is one whole week if you are counting...AND I AM COUNTING!
Since Aaron went back to work I have taken over the 11:00 feeding (Aaron used to do this with a bottle, but he is now working in San Jose and has to be up at 4:45 am and doesn't get home until 7:00-30 pm, so I take mercy on him) and it seems, that since Aaron went back to work, Lucas has started sleeping through the night - coincidence? I think not! It's the magical, mystical, motherly touch! haha! Ok and a little "Baby Wise" (a book that I have re-read, and used to get Elijah to sleep through the night at 10 weeks).  So back to the "counting", this means that Lucas has started sleeping through the night at 8 weeks, two weeks earlier than Elijah! woo hoo!  I really thought he was going to take longer than E because he has/had been so fussy and had his nights and days mixed  up in the beginning.  But it looks like we have gotten him straightened out - at least in the night time. :)

The Difference Between 0, 1 and 2

Last week as you know, we celebrated Elijah's 2nd birthday. I was going through some pictures and decided it would be neat to see how he has changed over the past. Two years. I hope you enjoy these pictures as much as I did!

Water Baby

Though I was never one to be labeled a "water baby", Aaron was. It seems that Elijah is taking on Aaron's characteristics more and more, even if people say he looks more like me. ;)

We spent last week in the l.a. Area with friends and family. At Shaunas parents house Elijah and his new buddy Declan (Sara's son), thought it would be great to get in to the unseated pool. At a mere 66 degrees F. The boys took to the water. Declan was in and out, in and out. Elijah? Well let's just say we had pull him out kicking a screaming because he wanted to stay in, after at least a half hour...yep he's our little water baby!

Smile for the Birdie

Our little guy gave us some real smiles this week! I can't tell you how exciting it is to see this guy smile. It's just as wonderful as the first time Elijah smiled for us. Lucas' first smile took place on Sunday April 14th!

Office Visit

Lucas and I took a little trip to my work a couple weeks ago. It was so great to see everyone after being away for about 6 weeks. My boss, Esther (seen in the first picture below) was so eager to hold Lucas that she practically had him for our whole visit. It was so cute and I was happy to oblige her as her grand baby is all the way in Florida!

There were others who got a little Lucas time in too when Esther had to run off to a meeting. Here are a couple pictures of some of my other coworkers with Lucas.

I'm 2!

The day before Elijah turned two I thought him to say "I'm two!" And tried to teach him how to show it on his fingers....which we may still be working on... Anyway I thought it would be cute to share our little rouse with you. Gosh it's hard to believe we have been graced with Elijah's joyous presence for two years. What a blessing this darling boy has been to our lives.

ABC's

We have this cute iPad app that sings the ABCs and I thought Elijah may have just came across it but now I am thinking he has been secretly watching and listening to it.  Well that and I know they sing them at daycare so maybe that's it too...but here's our little guy singing his ABCs... Listen closely, it's a little hard to hear him he sings softly and I had the dryer going In The back ground.

Happy Birthday To Me

  Ok the cutest thing in the world just happened. Aaron and I were relaxing after getting Lucas to sleep (finally!...long evening...) and Elijah down after his great birthday evening, albeit slightly later than usual. Aaron suddenly says to me across the room " do you hear that?" I wasn't paying attention, so aaron says "Elijah's singing happy birthday to himself" and this is how it went...

I just had to share these two pictures with you, because they are classic.  I promise you this is exactly the order that they were taken in.  First Elijah was clearly, unsure of the Easter Bunny and then, he warmed right up to him.  That's my boy!

First Bath

We gave Lucas his first bath a couple of weeks ago.  Let me just say, with our new baby bath tub, and two years of practice under our belts, this bath went much better than Elijah's first and subsequent second bath!
Seriously, we are old hands at this baby bathing thing, and much more confident. Though I must say confidence in child handling/rearing is one thing that Aaron does NOT lack. I of course handed him the reins again, as I DO indeed, lack the confidence to bathe a newborn baby...though I did do it myself about a week later when I was forced to (Aaron was away, and the baby had "lost his lunch" so....).

Newborn Photo's Untouched

We were supposed to have our professional photo shoot done this week, like we had with Elijah when he was 4 weeks old, but unfortunately my photographer got sick and couldn't shoot this week, and she was booked for next week so we decided to scrap the shoot and take some family pictures with her later in the year.  That opened the door for me to take a little artistic license and create our own little photo shoot for Lucas.
We have great natural light in our bedroom, so I figured that would be a good place to do the shoot. I cranked up the heat to 80 degrees, opened the blinds and blanketed the bed in new white sheets (I even ironed them!).  Here are a couple of shots from our little shoot.  I will post all the shots somewhere (any suggestions?) so that you can see them all.  I also will be trying to figure out how to touch them up so that they look more professional and will then be sending out birth announcements.
*Note there may be more pictures coming on this subject, as I would like to take some of him au natural, but I wasn't feeling particularly eager to shoot a baby in that state with the guarantee that he would pee....on my bed... so...well... actually...maybe I won't be taking those shots...i guess it will remain to be seen. ;)

A Little More Easter Before it gets too Late

We had a great Easter this year.  Elijah is finally old enough to understand (a little bit) about dying eggs and then hunting for eggs.  He is 5 months older than his cousin Lizzy, and even though they are boarding 2, the age where months between ages seem to start to diapear; it was apparent that he got the whole "Easter Egg Hunt" a lot quicker than Lizzy.  But Lizzy did catch on and they were off!
It was so neat to watch them, and encourage them to find eggs.  We have some pictures below of the "Dye Job" and the "Hunt" and I believe even a little video.
Hope you all had a wonderful Easter too.  We love and miss all of you!
