My Funny Valentine

I just love these boys.  Elijah had a "Mike & Elijah" day this past Monday, due to Elijah being out of school for an inservice day and Aaron having a big test he needed to study for...and of course, I had to work.  So dad took Elijah for the whole day (I have a pretty amazing father).  Well to my surprise, Elijah told dad that he wanted to buy something for mommy for Valentines day and he picked out a heart box of chocolates, all by himself for me.   Then Elijah came home from school yesterday and made me this darling valentine arrangement. Hey it's even biodegradable and he says it should go in my garden. I guess I need to create a garden huh?

Handwriting

I can tell preschool has been really good for Elijah. We are half way through the year and this boy can practically write his name! I guess its almost time to take him to the library and get his library card! HAHA! I may be a little over presumptuous on that account, but the boy is doing well.  He can write E L I H of his name .  Tonight we worked on putting the J and the A in there too, but I don't think he quite gets whats missing yet.
He can also write other letters, however, he is quite the perfectionist....so he is not always happy with his work.  I have been trying to help by giving him plotting points, and he seems to respond well to that.  Here are a couple letters he's been writing with me and probably more so at school.
"V"

"Q"

"J"

"E"

Taste the Rain...

It finally rained here last week/end. It was glorious to get rain again, after the driest January on record - not a drop of rain the whole month (well, I guess statistically speaking, because the south bay had a little drizzle, but who knows....its just what the news said, and we know how reliable they can be *cough* *brian* *cough* *williams* *cough* ...man my throat tickles. ;) But I digress....  Elijah had a great time in the rain. Everywhere we went he said "can I jump in puddles?!" With his monster truck wellies on, I had to oblige him...I may have even jumped in a couple puddles.  He walked outside at one point and said "Im eating the rain" HAHA I just love it.  Here are some pictures of our rainy day boy.

HEY GRAM!  Check back at 12 pm PST/ 3 pm EST - I have another post for you on Friday the 13th of February!!!! YAYAYAYAYYA!

By the Light of the Fire

Dad decided to build a fire- and when I say "build a fire", I mean throw a duraflame log in the fireplace HAHA - last week.  He thought the kids would really get a kick out of it.  So while the kids were in the bath, dad "built a fire" and when they got out I told them to hurry and get their pj's on so they could have a special surprise.  Elijah was done pretty quickly and off we went.  Although he really liked it he said "this isn't the special surprise" with this cute little crooked face he gets. I said "yes it is" and then he said "what about marshmallows?!"  Ah I see, every fire needs marshmallows.  So we had marshmallows by the fire.
The real kicker was when Elijah reflected on his summer camping trip with Aaron and The Wills' "We didn't have marshmallows. Daddy forgot them." HAHAHAHA

Sorry the pictures are dark.

I LOVE this picture!

The Sweetest Thing

Lucas bumped his head (yes the kid is always getting bumps and bruises - sheesh) and dad was there to comfort him. It was so gosh darn sweet.  He didn't want me, he wanted "Mike"- Ugh Melt my heart.

The Superbowl Fight Winner....

There may have been a superbowl fight on the field last weekend, but there was one off the field too.  Lucas had a fight with the edge of a stair at the superbowl party we went to and the stair won the fight.  This poor guy has one ugly looking black eye.  I tried to capture it here, but with a 2 year old, the only time I can get a close up is if he's sleeping! hahah  Today his eye is looking better than what you see in the pictures as its a couple of delays delayed.  It's now green and healing, but geesh. This poor dude took a hard one.
