Back to the Future

I want to get you the latest and greatest, and then we can go back again to get you all, all caught up. So here is THE VERY LATEST - THIS JUST IN- HEADLINE NEWS- The De Mers' Hit Tahoe June 28-30, 2015! HAHA

Heather, one of my dear close friends from college called us fairly last minute and said her in-laws would only be staying half the time they had originally planned for the week they would all be in Tahoe celebrating a family member's wedding, and would we like to come for the remaining time.  I checked with work and they were flexible so I said SURE! we will be there Sunday-Tuesday - WOOT WOOT!

Unfortunately Aaron couldn't go because he has summer school and cannot afford to miss any days. So I packed up the kids and headed up to Tahoe. They did really great on the car ride up. Lucas got a little cat nap and we only made one roadside (and I mean side-of-the-road) stop for an emergency urinary relief for the 4 year old (gotta say having boys is much easier than having girls in the road side pee department)...and then we were there.

We relaxed the first evening and let the kids run off their energy and get acquainted.  There was some thunderstorms that first evening and the next day. The kids loved that, I think it made it that much more special.

We had a room to ourselves which was wonderful. Lucas slept in the pack and play and Elijah with me in the bed.  Surprisingly enough they slept very well.  I on the other hand, slept better than I expected, but not great. LOL.
Everyone Came in to our bed!

Heather has a 2 year old (8 days younger than Lucas) and a 5 month old.  Liam, the 2 y/o loved Elijah and was enthralled with his iPad games. He and Lucas got a long too, but sharing for the 2 of them was not their strong suit. LOL.
Abe 5 months

Liam 2 years

Monday we headed out to the lake. The kids loved it! Believe it or not (because it was shocking to me), Elijah was my little water baby. The lake is mountain run off so its cold, and Elijah was happy to go in as far as we would let him. Lucas on the other hand was running back to shore, wimpering, when the water hit his calves. HAHA.  They build sand castles and knocked them down. Made their own little sandy water pool, and overall had a blast.

What's in there?

Today was our last day. We needed to leave by mid-day so we played it low key in the morning and then headed to the park, lunch, then hit the road. Lucas was so tired he fell alseep, I kid you not, at about the 3 minute mark. I didn't even make it to the casinos (5 minutes away) before he was out cold.

It was such a wonderful trip, getting to meet Heather (whom Elijah renamed "Feather")'s new baby and re-meet Liam, whom we last saw when he and Lucas were 5&6 weeks old. It was great catching up with heather and Pat and getting to see her dad, who is just such a wonderful and nice man. I can't wait until we get to be with them all again.

Mom Part Deaux-Deaux

I owe you BIG BIG time. I left you hanging, with promises of the finale of mom's trip with us and then some. And now it's been more than month. As usual I got busy, I found a good book series, and I really am running out of good excuses. So there, I admit it, I am a excuses-less slacker. So with out further ado, here is a post, I can't promise more than one tonight, but I'll be working on more and catch ups towards the end of the weekend and early next week (because I am off of work!).

Mom Part Deaux-Deaux:

When we last left off we had finished day two of Oma's visit. A day filled with State Park walks, tennis lessons and our first ever library visit (we have since been back once. I am terrible). Day three and our final day 4 together brought some more firsts and unique visits for us.

We started out day 3 doing something, I can't even remember what, but it landed us at In N Out burger (oh yeah I remember now, we went to Sams Club LOL!). We braved a large crowd and half a melt down from one, maybe even both the boys. A very kind patron got stickers for the kids, I even thought she worked there until I saw her lunching a few booths over... haha. The kids got hats too, which they loved, at least for a few minutes.

He has a paci because he was in metl down mode. Don't think I let him walk around with that all day LOL!

Then we had a wonderful time at the 9th Street Park in town. The city has majorly improved the park since I was little, and it has all these wonderful and fun and challenging apparatus' for the kids to navigate.

A little blury, but Lucas loved the rocking whale!

The timid boy took a few attempts but finally scaled the spider web! (Elijah)

Elijah and I stole a few minutes together so that he could go pee in the bushes, and I took that time to snap a selfie of the two of us. Funny story, he then chased a goose and it turns out his Preschool teacher lives across the way and watched the whole thing go down. She had a dinner party over and they were cracking up watching Elijah chase the goose, half scared it was going to turn around and nip him.

Mom and daughter selfie!
Day 4- the final day brought us back over to Katie's.  Lucas was exhausted and not happy about trying to take a picture with Oma. I think Katie got one or two mediocre snaps, I can't say that I got any good ones where all three were behaving LOL.

We had such a fun time with mom. I think this time was really special as it brought back memories of Jane. Things we used to do with her like walk in the state park, and play at the 9th street park, go to the library (as she was an avid reader) and play tennis. It was so neat getting to relive these memories now, with my kids and their Oma.  XOXO
