Lucas' Sick Day

Last week poor Lucas came down with another fever to add to his 2 week long cold.  We took him to the doctors and low and behold, a double ear infection...again.  Poor guy.  Here are a some sweet pictures from the day. awwwwwww....

Fell asleep around 10 am sitting up next to me, so I layed him down and got about 45 minutes of this peaceful bliss.

2014 Downtown Halloween Walk

Just had to share these cute little pictures of Collette (16 mo), Lucas (20 mo) and McKenna (15 mo) at the annual Downtown Halloween walk in our town.  No pictures of Elijah because he didn't want to dress up in his costume that he has been talking about all month....oh well, that kid has a mind of his own.

Colette belongs to Aaron's long time friend Andrew and his wife Cassandra, and McKenna belongs to Erin and Nate.

Family Pumpkin Patch

The weather, thankfully, has been a bit rainy this past week.  It delayed our family pumpkin patch trip by a day, and so we lost Aaron to other endeavors, however we still had a good time with the Joanie, Robinson and crew.  Jackson and Elijah are best of friends, which makes it nice for us, because Joanie and Robinson are some of our really good friends already.  We enjoy doing a lot with them, and their kids ...and so do our kids ;)  Here are some pictures from our hour or so at Larry's Produce Stand, a local Ranch that has the best produce, pumpkins and trees for the best price in the general area.  This was our first time to their pumpkin patch and needless to say, we will be going back.

First Field Trip!

I took Elijah on his first field trip yesterday! What fun! We went out to Western Railway Museum (you will recall, Katie and I took Elijah out there about a year and a half ago) and then a little train ride down to the pumpkin patch.  It took Elijah practically the whole day to warm up to the trip. And honestly I think it was because I was there. That kid was attached to my leg the whole time. He'd get excited about something start, running toward and then 10 seconds later freak out and run back to me crying. I told the teachers "I think this is the last field trip I will be going on for a while", because he is not like that when I am around. This was confirmed when the teacher looked at me and said "I am sorry, this is not the Elijah I am used to seeing" to which I quickly and kindly replied "It's because I am here".- enlightenment.
Anyway, the obstinate child was excited when he first stepped in to class, but with all the hustle and bustle, and all the new and added  people, our little introvert quickly receded. The class was to all wear neon green t-shirts, so that they were easily identified. I got it on him but then three minutes later he threw a fit and took it off. Needless to say from the pictures, you can see that never made it back on to his body for the entire day.
We were ready to head to the bus (which the parents could not ride on - weird, but whatever)- our normal fun and excited boy was back, got on the bus and waved good bye (at which point I should have noted my "exit stage left" indicator, but oh no, I had to stay for some reason) and then two minutes later proceeded to melt down. I stepped on to the bus offered some calming (with out any effect) words and then jumped off and headed to our destination - sans Elijah (because he needed to get through this on his own).

We all arrived at the site nearly at the same time, and there was my little boy, happy to see me.
Off we went on the train (meh no fits, but no relinquishing of my leg) and to the patch.  I think it was about the time we got on the corn maze that Elijah started to let go a little. And then when we hit the bounce house, followed by pumpkin chuckin, followed by spider beating (think large pinata sans candy and make of cloth) we were all doing well.  What I failed to mention earlier is that I had another appendage on my leg that day as well. Believe it or not, Lizzy didn't want to let me out of her site either.  Like I said 1. First Field trip 2. TOO many people 3. Decent sized place to get lost in = Toddler Fear.  So whatever, we made it through.
Whew. Ok I think I blabbed on long enough.  The long and the short of it is that we had a good day (the bus ride home and good byes were tear free- thank the good lord sheesh!) and I will NOT be going on any field trips in the near future. :)

p.s. I promise a post about Lucas to come, I know you miss his face, and we are finally getting some words out of his mouth. :) - SOME- not many, but SOME.
The three minutes we had our school shirt on...

Off we go to the BUS!
