Elijah's Christmas Performance....or lack there of....

Elijah - Center with Blue Jacket
...Well, really. You know Elijah. This kid is not a ham. He is not "the center of attention" and he will not do anything unless he decides its ok.  HELLO! He's his father's son!
So we embarked on a journey to Elijah's Christmas performance with medium hopes that he would indeed sing the songs and do the hand motions.  My guess - he may have done it if we weren't there....but that is a "may have".
Well our little wall flower was practically that.  I had to threaten to leave to even get him on stage....where he sat the whole time- no signing.  Oh well.  the majority of the rest of the class sounded good and looked cute.  Hope you enjoy these little voices and our wall flower.

The reindeer ears lasted 30 seconds.

E&L's Christmas Tree

I bought the boys a little cChristmastree at Trader Joe's for their room, and went down to Michael's and picked up some....sorry ELIJAH picked out some cute little ornaments for it.  Last night we decorated it.  Lucas was feeling particularly camera shy, so Elijah showed off their piece of work.

Christmas on First Street 2014

The best picture I got of all the kids (less Colette)

Well yes, your eyes are not fooling you, there was no thanksgiving post. Why? Because I was sick as a dog and Luke was too, so we stayed home while Aaron and Elijah got to hang out at Aaron's parents house and eat warm yummy thanksgiving food. No, I'm not bitter or jealous at all. I got a plate of food after all...albeit sans gravy (had to make my own mediocre, at best) and sans any tastey deserts, like, mmmmmmmmmmmm, pumpkin pie. ugh. sucky.
Anyway, It's been awhile, yes I know. Well, truthfully, I have been busy.  Same old story I know, but hey, give a working mom a break! sheesh.  Anyway, I had another successful year with our Operation Christmas Child drive, that I head up, lead, and do basically all by myself....mostly because I am TERRIBLE at asking for help. But anway, that kept me busy and the kids and yada, yada, yada.
Terrible Picture, but Elijah and his best bud Jackson
So now we are almost at Christmas, dear god where did the year go?!   With it almost being Christmas that means that it is time for the yearly "CHRISTMAS ON FIRST STREET" hooray! This is one of my favorite things to do this time of year.  Bundle up, pray the rain will hold off just long enough for us to get the kids down to the end of main street, watch the tree light up and boom back to the car. Last year we got rained on, this year they swore we would and we felt three drops total- SO AWESOME.  That is good news for you too! You know why? Because the longer we got to stay out, the more pictures and video you get to watch/look at! Woo Hoo!
I know you are anxiously awaiting all the above mentioned media, so without further ado....:

And now, we would like to present you with......the videos!

The Long Awaited Halloween

Sorry. I had all the plans in the world to post this the day of, then later update it, Halloween night.  Then....time got a way from me, and Aaron took Elijah on a camping trip so I was one armed, which doesn't make for great ability or speed of typing.  So here we are, a week and a half later and we are ready to wish you a Happy Halloween,,,or at least that it was a happy Halloween!

Start of day- 9:00 am - Location - Elijah's Preschool.  Scenario: Our obstanent child would not put on his halloween costume.  Result - .....the following:
One of two kids in the entire school that didn't dress up....oh well...

Passing out his treats to the class

Lunch with Lizzie and the class

Someone else dressed up tho....

Do you know who he is?

No, not exactly a Motorcycle Rider....

There is a tear in his eye....There is ALWAYS a tear in his eye....He's Cry Baby (google it)

Intermission:  I asked aaron when he and I got home, "what are we going to do with this kid?! He won't dress up!"  Aaron said "Tell him he can't go trick or treating if he doesn't dress up, that no one will give him candy"  OK! Good plan.

Part Deaux -
Start time 6:00pm - Location - Home -Scenario:  "Elijah its time to go tick or treating at Jackson's house! Let's get your costume on,"  'I don't want to wear my costume"  "Then you can't tick or treat, no one will give you candy."  "that's ok, I watch" (WHAT?!) "If you don't wear you costume you can't go trick or treating, you have to stay here with Daddy. You can't go to Jacksons"  "ummmmm (some critical thinking, whimpering, some more thinking) Ok, I wear my costume".  And then, he had a BLAST!!!

When mom was here in September, we learned that there was a 3 and up tennis program in V town that we could enroll Elijah in.  Since he had, had so much fun with mom and the lessons that she was giving him when she was here, I decided to go ahead and enroll him in Cubby Tennis.  I can't say that his reaction was as good....or anywhere close to as good, as it was to mom's lessons, but I have managed to get him to play a little with the group each of the three times we have been so far.
What you need to know about Elijah, is that he is very much an independent thinker, he is also somewhat of an introvert and where he plays well by himself, he doesn't play well with others, when its not his choice too.  Thus the battle royale I have had with him each week at Cubby Tennis.
We talk about it the night before, the morning of etc, and he is so excited and then we get to the court and he shuts down.  He wants to play with one ball, and to play by himself, not with the others.  I probably look like the hovering parent on the court, because I cannot leave his side less I want a very upset child.  If I thought it was because he was just throwing a fit, we would have nipped that in the bud, but I really think it has A. a lot to do with his personality and B. that I am there.  Next weekend Aaron is going to take him and see if there are any different results.  In the meantime here are a few pictures I have been able to grab of him on the courts.

First School Birthday Party

Elijah's first school aged birthday party was a couple of weekends ago.  It was at this great place called "Pump it up" out in concord.  They have this warehouse space and fill it with bounce houses that you see in people's yards for birthdays and festivals.  The best part was, it was catered only to one party at a time and ENCLOSED. Talk about the best idea ever.  I got to meet and mingle with some of the parents (ugh, wow I feel old) and Elijah AND Lucas got to play for an hour plus with all the kids from Elijah's class and their siblings.  We had a great time and I am thinking this might be a great idea for his party too!  So much for the days of chuck e cheese, this is like ten times better.
