11 Month Check-In

Our little guy is almost 1 year old!! NO WAY!!! Where has the time gone? :(
There is not much to report in the last month. He is still doing great pulling himself up, and he has found the dishwasher (what is the fascination with dishwashers?) he continues to hate being alone, he wants to be in all the action and is doing well at daycare because of that. I think he is still at least another month away from walking and no new words to speak of, except we thought we got a "dada" a couple of times, but it sure isn't the whiny "mama" I get every time I walk in the door (hey! At least I know he missed me, right?)
Here are his stats...next month will be better as he will have had his 12 month check up so we can see how big that head has really gotten hahaha.
Weight: 21 lbs 1 oz
Approx length: 29"

The link below is this new thing I found called flipagram, it takes your pictures and turns them in to a quick (like 15 seconds quick) slides how. We were having fun the other night and it's cute to see the change of emotion on his face over the pictures.

Snow Much More Fun!

Here's some video from our trip. It's pretty cute, but I'm biased.

Snow Much Fun

This weekend we took the boys with our friends and their 2 year old to Tahoe for ALL the kids' first snow trip! We had such a good time even though the last snow was three inches two weeks ago. We found a snow hill just past heavenly resort to go tubing on. Can you believe our Elijah was the first one to go?!! OK so he went with aaron, but at least he went...and he loved it!!! We spent about an hour or so there and then headed back to the house for some lunch and R&R. The kids had a blast playing with each and the older boys made a game out of Lucas following them that unlike to call " AHHHHHH baby monster is coming!!!!" Hahahah.
All in all we had a wonderful trip, even after the 49ers lost the game. :(
Hope you enjoy these pictures. I'll try to post some more from our other camera later.

Park Fun

Just a fun afternoon at the park, trying to burn some of that energy put of Elijah. He had a great time and so did I. I finally checked out a little park near my dad's place where I could just relax and let Elijah run around, and where the play structure was just his size.

Guess Who is Standing Up?!...

This little boy!!!! Aaron told me Thursday night that Lucas stood up by himself on Wednesday night ( a day delayed because we switched cars and kids in a parking lot in concord so aaron could make a 6;00 frisbee game hahah). Well I finally saw him do it on Thursday and finally captured just now! I guess this means we are going to start counting down the days to walking...oh boy...

10 Month Check-in

Ok, a little late, but hey I have been having a good, relaxing time off so that is why I haven't gotten to this yet. And hey! it's a bonus for you that I haven't gotten to this until now, because we have had some major developments this week alone!
Lucas turned 10 months on Christmas day (pretty neat)! He continues to be a REALLY happy and laid back boy. He LOVES his big brother and wants to know where he is at and what he is doing all the time. I think I have written that before, but I just want you to know how much he loves Elijah hahaha.  You have seen in previous posts that Elijah plays well with Lucas and that continues for the most part. I guess I am just waiting for the day that Elijah wants nothing to do with Lucas, probably because that is how I felt about my little sister growing up. HAHA (it gets better).
So here are your 10 month updates:
Stats: 21.6 lbs (don't think that changed from last month), 32" long (had to measure for his work permit so that he could do modeling at le top and rabbit moon too). Head- still huge, but getting more proportional to his body. We are starting to think that he may NOT be strawberry-blonde after all. As more of his hair is coming in it's looking more and more blond... *sad face*  :(
He has huge feet! Not fred flinstone like Elijah, at least not yet, just loooonggg. I had to buy 12 month slippers for him!

Mile Stones (in order of happening):
(Eats Cheerios)
1. Full crawl achieved! (Dec. 12)
2. Getting up on knees and attempting to pull self up (not quite pulling self up yet though) (Dec. 22)
3. Had his First Christmas
4. Had his first New Year's Eve
5. Says "mama"! (and almost dada, but he is definitely saying mama and its really only when he is getting upset) (Jan. 3)
6.  Plays Peek-A-Boo...with one hand (Jan 4.)
7. Getting First Tooth! It started popping up on Christmas Morning and has made some progress on it's way upward but not quite fully in.

Funny Quirks:
1. He loves to "face plant" when we play with him on our bed. He will crawl one or two paces and then face plant and laugh and laugh.
2. He tends to crawl with one leg propelling him as if he wants to get up on his feet. It's a little weird and hard to describe, so I will try to capture it in a video.
3. One leg is constantly getting stuck in his coveralls (think footed pajama). He somehow gets it out of the foot hole and it creeps up in to the leg area of the outfit. That NEVER happened with Elijah, but I am wondering if it is because Elijah was so thick that things always fit tightly on him. Who knows.

Other Interesting Facts: This boy knows when we are talking to him. I can tell him "No Lucas" and he looks at me like he knows what I am saying and I pretty sure he does. I just yelled over to him while writing this because I couldn't see what he was getting in to and he looks at me and stops trying to get into whatever it was that he was getting in to.
He knows his mommy and he LOVES his daddy. Nothing has changed there. I am just glad I got the first word this time (Elijah's first words were "Hi Daddy!" awww so cute).
He is a fairly picky eater (I can't win), does not like the baby cereal, does not like corse food like applesauce, so guess what he LOVES -- Bananas...so we share baby banana food (HAHAHA)!
He can also drink out of a sippy cup pretty well. He is not the cleanest when it comes to that, but he can do it. So now we have a fight over who's sippy cup he is using...you know Elijah has a fight, no one else cares. hahaha.

Ok I think that does it for our 10 month check in.  11 month's is just around the corner and we should probably have more milestones at that point too, but I hope it's not "He's walking!!!" ugh...

Love

Picking Out a Christmas Tree

I know it is past Christmas, and way past the time that I should have put up this post, but hey- Better Late than Never Right?
We went to a local Farmers Stand in Fairfield, called Larry's Produce to get our tree for the second year in a row. All of our friends have been going here for years to get their tree's for ridiculously low prices, so we finally joined in on the deal.  They have really great trees and hang them all out so you can actually see your tree in 360 before you buy it and we usually secure a tree in about 10 minutes (we definitely are not picky when it comes to trees, so that helps in our speed.)  This year was no different, except for that fact that we brought dad along and the man who is so particular about his tree found one in 5 minutes- I kid you not. So you know we are going to insist that he comes every year now! HAHA.
Anyway we had a fun outing and Elijah had a good time running around. We were able to capture a few fun pictures too.
Here's looking forward to Christmas 2014 and the smell of pine tree filling our homes once again.

Taking Santa Pictures at the Fischer Hanlon House

Fischer Hanlon House- 1856 Historic Home and one-time
boarding house
As a little girl I remember when mom and dad would take Katie and I to the Fischer Hanlon House in town to get hot apple cider off the wood burning stove and sit down with "THE REAL" Santa Claus (because he had a real beard) and tell him our wish lists for Christmas. I feel like we were dressed up in our best Christmas outfits (maybe?) and dad would take pictures and we would get a candy cane after we were done. I remember really looking forward to that time. I found out this year that they are still doing Santa visits at the Fischer Hanlon house! You know I had to drag the kids their immediately to get their picture taken with Santa and see if they were still doing the apple cider in the kitchen. When I say immediately, I mean immediately. We were downtown at the Christmas parade (just found out about that this year) and were walking by the Capitol and I saw the sign for "Santa at the Fischer Hanlon House" and told Aaron- "Let's go!"  Luckily I had the kids dressed up in Christmas-appropriate attire and we had brought the camera with us.  It was about a 20 minute wait and I ate up everyone of those 20 minutes reminising about how we used to come there as kids and now my kids were getting to share in the tradition - how neat!  The cider was still brewing on the wood burning stove, the volunteers were dressed up in late 19th century attire and when we made in to see Santa Claus (and Mrs. Claus as it was) he was "real" too!
You all know how timid our little Elijah is (e.g. not getting on the choo choo trains, taking 45 minutes to decide a bounce house was ok to get in, etc) so I didn't have high hopes for him to sit on Santa's lap. Lucas on the other hand I figured would be a breeze (and was). So when I successfully got Elijah on Santa's lap (with lots of help from Santa and his bag of goodies) and literally creeped away so Aaron could be a quick shutterfly, I was ecstatic!  Happy Santa Pictures?! ALRIGHT!  Here are some pictures from that day.

Happy New Year 2014!

P.S. If you haven't gotten this yet it's coming!
Looking back at my last two posts I am reminded that I have been TERRIBLE at posting lately.
I owe you a post on Lucas' 10 month Check-in and I have a lot to share with you pictures wise that we have taken over the last month, but mostly the last couple of weeks. New Year's Resolutions are a fleeting idea for me, so I am not going to make any here or any promises to be "a more timely poster" because I think, like 99% of the other people who make resolutions I would break it in the first month....
However I do intend to be a better poster and to always keep you up-to-date on what these boys are doing and the milestones that they are accomplishing...as always!
Here's to a wonderful 2014 (can you believe it's 2014!!) and health and happiness. Love -Kristin, Aaron and The Boys.
