Strawberry Blonde?

  Here's jut a few pictures of our little Lucas from today. And just a note, it looks like he is going to have strawberry blonde hair!!!

Cry Baby

  Our little Lucas has some crying issues that we are trying to work through, and though I am not trying to exploit him in any way, we do have to laugh once in a while (to save us from going insane) at his crying...and how stiff his body gets when he's upset.  Here is a picture from last night. And again really we aren't reveling in his discontentment, I promise, we are good parents....he just crys so much and we have to find the humor in it sometimes.

Turn Off the Lights!

It is becoming an obvious fact that my boys are taking after me in their complete lack for love of the morning or bright lights (or any light at all for that matter) at bed time.  Elijah likes to throw his giraffe over his face especially in the morning.  It reminds me of when Jane would come in and turn on all the lights in my room in the morning to get me out of bed.  I would yell and throw the covers over my head, refusing to get up until she shut the blinds and turned off all the lights! HAHA!
Well now, it looks like Lucas (formerly "Baby L") is following suit....see below:

Just a few pictures of our little Lucas this morning. He is three weeks and one day old today!!

Sick Sunday

  Our little Elijah is sick with a cold and doesn't have much of an appetite. However, when it comes to mommy's dinner (which is the same as his) he suddenly has an appetite...and not in his high chair where he is supposed to be eating.  I guess we all give in when we are exhausted and have a sick kid on our hand...today we are picking our battles very carefully.

  Every so often we give Elijah a "special cookie" (e.g. An Oreo) after dinner.  Here is what he looks like after he has consumed said cookie...

Funny Face

I promise, this blog will not just be filled with Lucas, but you can understand why he is getting a lot of attention these days.  I have some cute pictures with Elijah too, and will continue to make him appear on the blog just as soon as possible.

p.s. Today is my birthday and Lucas is 12 days old! I can hardly believe he has been with us for almost 2 weeks! He and I are now 30 years apart....wow, I feel old....

I Hold My Own Pacifier!

This is not the first time we have caught Lucas in the act of holding his own pacifier.  Actually as cute as it is, it is also functional, in that we don't have to chase down the "fallen out" pacifier all the time.  Ok, ok, so it is a rare occasional that he holds in in himself, but hey, maybe it is something he will get the hang of!

Today, this sweet boy [insert Lucas] peed and projectile poop'd on me.  I suspect I will be thrown up on at some point tonight...probably at 2 am.  But he is darling isn't he?

A New Baby and A New Title to Our Blog!

Welcome Back!  In the weeks that I have been absent, you all know that we have had another baby BOY!  Yes, no more Baby "L" or "It", it's a BOY!  I only found it fitting that since we now have TWO little guys, and favoritism should be avoided at all costs, that I change the name of the blog from "Learning Elijah" to "I Speak 'Boy' ".  I may not be a master in "Boy" but I sure will be in the next 20 years :), thus the title.

We brought Lucas Ryan D. in to this world at 8:08 am on Feb. 25th. He was a healthy 7 lbs 14 oz (yes 1 lb and 1 oz lighter than Elijah...but also 1 week early, so you can imagine, had we gone full-term I would have had another almost 9 lb baby on my hands!) and 20.75 inches long (3/4 inch LONGER than Elijah was).
He came in to this world screaming, I only hope that is not his M.O. for his life.  I swear that kid cried for the first 20 minutes of his life!  He was healthy though, and that is all that mattered.  I was literally laughing on the operating table, at how much he was crying!

We came home Wednesday afternoon, to a new baby and a brand new bed for ourselves! Even though we had a new bed, lets just say night one, was not full of rest.  It turns out our little guy has his nights and days mixed up. I am currently working really hard to get him on a schedule so that we can revert this terrible cycle. The last two nights I have been up with a wide awake baby for 2-4 stints and have caved to holding the baby in my arms to get him to sleep and stay asleep so that I can get two hours rest together....Dang! I thought he would be just like Elijah - eat every 2 hours, sleep for 2 hours, but know, no such luck.
So if you were wondering why this is such a choppy post, it's because I am operating on VERY little sleep, and word processing is not coming easy.
