Progress Update on the Boys

Vicki wrote me this morning among other things. To ask how Lucas is progressing in his milestones. This made me realize that I have failed in updating you on him in a while, at least three months! I sincerely apologize! So here is the update on both boys:
Luke is fully walking now- I think we hit this milestone at 14.5-15 months. He's been walking for about a month if say and gets more confident by the day. Yesterday he was nearly running away from me.

He has his four top front teeth and two molars and 2.5 bottom front teeth and two molars. And still not much hair to speak of. I was talking to one of Aaron's cousins who has a little guy maybe 1-2 months younger than Lucas and who also is void of hair that the two guys maybe in a race for who can grow a full head of hair fastest. I then commented that mom had always said I didn't get hair until I was three and I only half believed. Now I fully believe her, seeing Lucas' progress (or lack there of) in this department. Haha!
He is still not saying words we do get the occasional mama or dada but he hasn't decided to say anything else yet, however he is fully conscience and understanding of what we are talking about and telling/asking him. I'll say "Lukey, pick out a book." And he comes over with a book. Or "Lucas, are you hungry?" And he gets super excited (when he is hungry of course. I have heard that it's pretty normal for the second kid to talk later, so I am not too worried.
This kid loves music especially when there is a good beat. He will bounce up and down in his high chair, it's pretty cute.
We potty trained Elijah two weekends ago and it was going well and then he regressed but word back from daycare yesterday was that he didn't have any accidents. So that was really good news. :) we still have a ways to go with this and a lot of work ahead of us but hopefully we can be ready when preschool starts Aug. 20th. That's right, PRESCHOOL! wow that came fast didn't it?!

New CarS!

Somebody(ies) got a special package in the mail today!  Guess who? Well Elijah (and Lucas) of course!  Looks like Aunt Lynn and Uncle Joe had been busy "Sailing" with two little boys in the front of their minds.  Elijah got to open this special package tonight and was soooooooo excited. I was excited, and shocked too, when the cars just kept on coming.  Can you tell how much he liked it?  Bet you can't!
Thank you Aunt Lynn and Uncle Joe for this special surprise!

p.s. Lucas seems to be slightly under the weather so he was in bed and asleep early tonight otherwise he would have loved partaking in the package opening and playing!

Santa Rosa to Bodega Bay and Home

This past Saturday Aaron piped up and suggested we take the kids for a road trip out to bodega baby, with a pit....well lunch stop, at Russian River Brewing Company in Santa Rosa.  I thought that sounded like a neat idea.  The weather was supposed to be decent too, so the beach might be somewhat fun.  So we packed up the kids (why did that take 1.5 hours! oy! I swear, you would think we should be old hands at this by now!) and got on the road.  The RRBC was great- Great food, great beer, great for the family (especially when the flow of Saturday afternoon traffic started to slow and we could hear each other a little better). Then it was off to bodega bay for a little beach stop. After a nearly empty, slightly panicked, turned around the car to find the nearest gas station because we were on E episode, we were back on the road to the beach. That drive (if you haven't taken it) is gorgeous. I was driving, otherwise I would have taken some pictures, and I couldn't talk the hubs in to taking any. The change from flat to hilly, from suburban to urban to farm land, from sunny to......ughhhhhhhh OVERCAST!!!! NOT FOR THE BEACH! WHAT THE HECK!!!! Well ok, we kind of thought that may be the case, but shooot!  So oh well. We stopped and got some salt water taffy (yeah yeah, I know what you are thinking and you are right - I stopped to get me salt water taffy) and then headed down to the dreary beach.

You know what's great about kids? They don't really care how cold it is outside, they just love the sand and love the water. Elijah thought it was the best thing in the world (even though he was in shorts and a thick fleece hooded jacket)!  He was racing the tide in and out, in and out, and then suddenly - he lost the race! HHAHAH!  Nothing better (ok I know terrible, but we really couldn't stop laughing) than to see that kid wait just a second too long and the water creep in under his feet, soggy up the sand and DOWN he went on to his bottom in to the cold water. So much for that warm jacket.  We of course, ran in (ok Aaron did, whatever) swept him up and promptly there after, left the beach to get the boy dry and warm. But that darling kid kept saying all the way to the car "the water float me away". HAHA. A little exaggerating, but cute.
All in all it was a really great day. Everyone had fun and we were all pooped by the time we got home. Needless to say it was an early to bed night.

Racing the tide

...really got to start working on getting that pacifier out of his mouth...

Somebody's Graduated...

...to the Big Boy Car Seat!  And it's Lucas!  I think we graduated Elijah around 10-12 months, but rear facing, and for all intents and purposes, Lucas should really be rear-facing as it is. It turns out this all happened by sheer coincidence this past week. I went to pick Lucas up on Wednesday from Day Care and got to the car and realized that Aaron had not left his infant car seat with Kathy.  So I figured, Hey! I can just move this headrest down a bit and tighten the straps and the kids should be a ok for one ride...and then Friday came along and again, Aaron had left home with the infant car seat in his car. A moment of panic rushed over me when I thought - "How am I going to get both kids to daycare with only one car seat?! And then it dawned on me, we had bought an even bigger boy car seat for Elijah at a garage sale the other weekend and it was still in the back of the van (original intent was to swap it for Elijah's current seat in the truck...yada yada yada, you really don't care about all that)- so sheer panic departed, slight irritation set in (due to now tardiness to appointments, et al., due in large part needed installation of second car seat) and then departed about half way to final destination. HAHA! and the rest is history as they say, because I don't see us changing anything, except for taking out the infant seat base in the middle of the van, in the near future.
With all that needless blabbering, finally here is your photo of the Big Boy Lucas (15 months) in his Big Boy Car Seat!
Awwwww!

Just for kicks, here is what the van would look like with three kids sitting in it (well minus the kids)!
